The Paris Peace Forum 2023

GONZALEZ FERNANDEZ, EMMANUEL

Since its inception in 2018, the Paris Peace Forum has become a vital platform for promoting international dialogue on global challenges. Held annually, this event brings together government leaders, international organizations, and civil society representatives with the goal of generating collaborative solutions to complex issues such as peace, global security, equity, and sustainability. The 2024 forum will focus on strengthening international cooperation in the face of common threats, such as climate change and armed conflicts. Paris, one of the world’s most influential cities in terms of diplomacy, greatly benefits from hosting such events. Not only does it reinforce its image as a global center for cultural diplomacy, but it also fosters governmental tourism, attracting delegations and officials from around the world. This convergence of leaders and experts in the city generates a positive economic impact while underscoring the importance of multilateral relations in times of growing global tension. The Paris Peace Forum has been pivotal in driving crucial debates on multilateralism and global governance. In previous editions, high-level experts tackled issues such as cyberspace regulation, vaccine equity, and environmental preservation. In 2024, the forum will continue in this vein, focusing on how destinations can play a crucial role in cultural diplomacy and the resolution of international conflicts. Beyond its diplomatic impact, Paris positions itself as a model of sustainability and inclusion. By providing an ideal setting for negotiations and peace dialogues, the city reinforces its commitment to sustainable development and its role as a hub for international events that drive global progress.
