GONZÁLEZ BUIZA, MANUEL
In 2025, Seville will open its doors to the world by hosting the 4th United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development, a premier forum scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 3.
The event will bring together world leaders, financial institutions, and key stakeholders with the aim of mobilizing resources to fulfill the commitments of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. The selection of Seville is a recognition of its capacity to organize large-scale international events. The city is finalizing preparations, which include infrastructure upgrades and a focus on sustainability. In addition to placing Seville at the center of international diplomacy, this event will bring significant economic benefits, as delegations from over 190 countries are expected to attend.
However, this is not the first time the Andalusian capital has faced such a challenge, as it has a long history of hosting governmental and institutional visits, as well as high-profile figures from the public and private sectors—most notably, former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2019, among many other examples. This forum represents not only an opportunity for Seville and Spain to establish themselves as leaders in global development but also a catalyst for advancing critical issues such as sustainable financing, international cooperation, and the fight against poverty.
